Twelve area schools set to participate in 2010 Acadiana Area High School Golf League

Over two months of golf competition for local high schools will begin on Tuesday, Feb. 9, when the Acadiana Area High School Golf League opens play for the 2010 season.

A total of 12 area schools will participate in this year’s prep league, which will crown team and individual champions at the end of its final events in mid-April. A total of 24 events will be held during the season at seven different area courses — Abbeville Country Club in Abbeville, Acadian Hills in Lafayette, Bayou Bend in Crowley, The Farm d’Allie in Carencro, Les Vieux Chenes in Youngsville, Spanish Trail in Cade and Squirrel Run in New Iberia.

Each event will begin at approximately 3 p.m. and will have a four-team field with schools facing each other in a round-robin format over the two-month season. In addition, all schools are eligible for a junior varsity schedule that will begin Feb. 11 with a series of eight tournaments.
